Treatment of sunspots, liver or age spots

Tan and brown pigmented flat spots begin to show up on sun-exposed skin with age. Some of the common areas for solar age spots are the face, chest, upper shoulders, and backs of hands and arms. These can be targeted individually or en masse with Intense Pulsed Light (IPL). A safe and effective way to target the brown pigment in the epidermis, IPL feels like a small elastic hitting the skin. Some redness from heat, and immediate pigment darkening, followed by flaking of the spots, should occur, leaving significantly faded spots within days.

Sometimes, a series of treatments may be necessary.

Benign treatable solar spots must be differentiated from other conditions, so it is important to come into the clinic to be seen by a dermatologist, who is an expert at identifying various brown lesions.
